Gmail Email Template
Back to posts
To set up an email template in gmail you will first need to have the template emailed to you by your designer, this will be the reference for gmail to know what the template is to look like.
Log into gmail and click on the settings button, it looks like a little cog in the top right corner, then select ‘Labs’

Scroll down the page until you see an option called ‘Canned Responses’, change the option button to ‘Enable’ and press the ‘Save Changes’ button at the top or bottom of the page.

Now go to the email you were sent with your template layout. Press forward and delete the ” ———Forwarded Message ———– ” information down to your template.
Then click on the ‘Canned responses’ button that appears below the Subject line and select ‘New canned response’.

This will bring up a box where you can name your layout so you can select it later.

Now when you create an email or respond to an email you can select the ‘Canned Response’ button and your templates will appear in the list under ‘Insert’. From here you can also save any changes you make to your layout at any time by selecting the layout name under ‘Save’ (eg if you change footer promotion text each month), create a new layout name by selecting ‘New canned response’ again, or delete an old template by selecting its name from under ‘Delete’.
