Schedule your Tweets

Back to posts

Twitter is a useful tool to keep website visitors and Twitter followers up to date with your latest news. But sometimes time flies by and updates get forgotten or it gets too busy to even think about.

One way to make sure you never forget to Tweet something important is to schedule your Tweets. This allows you to set aside some time to organise your Twitter status updates, set them up to automatically update over as long as you want and then get on with everything else you need to do.

Twuffer is a free online program that lets you schedule your Tweets to update now, next week, or next year.

Twuffer

There are two ways to log into Twuffer, you do not need to create a new account as it uses your Twitter account details.

Head over to www.twuffer.com and click on ‘Sign in with Twitter’. If you are already logged in to Twitter you will see this screen.

Allow screen

Press Allow and wait for Twuffer to connect to your Twitter account.

If you haven’t logged in to your Twitter account first you will see this screen.

Login screen

Type in your Twitter username and password to connect to your account.

Once logged in to Twuffer you have four tabs.
Dashboard shows you how many Tweets you’ve scheduled since using Twuffer, how many are queued and how many have been sent to your Twitter status.

Dashboard

Queued Tweets shows status updates you have scheduled, the date and time they are to be posted, what they will say and an option to delete each one.

Queued tab

Sent Tweets shows status updates you’ve scheduled and that have been posted through Twuffer.

Sent tab

Settings allows you to change your timezone, preferred date and time format, if you want to schedule for day light savings or not (although I have found this slightly inaccurate at times), and if you would like your Tweets to appear on the Twuffer homepage when they update.

Settings tab

At the top of your Twuffer page is where you schedule your tweets.

Schedule your Tweet

Type what you want to tweet into the ‘Type your tweet’ textbox, like Twitter it will show you how many characters you have left and will count down while you type.
Clicking on ‘Today’ next to ‘When to tweet’ will bring up a calendar where you can choose what month, day and year you would like your Tweet to update.
Clicking on ‘Now!’ will show a drop down menu where you can choose the time you would like your Tweet to update, leaving it on ‘Now!’ will automatically choose the time at the moment you press ‘set status’.

Press ‘set status!’ to schedule your tweet.

If you decided you want to change the text for your tweet or accidentally choose the wrong date to Tweet you can go to the Queued Tweets page, delete the Tweet and re-schedule it.

Happy Tweeting!
